The Virgin Mary - often depicted in stained glass windows designed and made by churches and religions dominated by men, her story is one of purity and virgin birth. This design depicts her wearing the stained glass, no longer a restrained and motionless idea but a living woman. The ‘glass’ panels design feature symbology referencing birth, fertility and motherhood. Pomegranates, roses, pagan symbols, lotus leaves and the phases of the moon all adorn the hand painted skirt panels.
